just some thoughts

i am in the midst of winter, sitting toasty warm in my beloved homespace! i currently have a few projects going on...
started a challenge for myself in 2017invited a few friends to join in on fb;"stitches" embrodory altho i am in no way skilled at this, it is an opportunity to experiment, & improve & have some fun along the way. You are welcome to join or follow, just connect with me on fb.  
i love the colder months, simply for the slower pace, the soup, the bundling up in big socks & sweaters & hats & scarves!! oh yes & don't forget the boots!!!
we have quite a bit of snow in the inland Pacific Northwest right now... so i have been feeding the resident crows/ravens & the little squirrels,i really do enjoy watching all their antics!
i love making soup & that is my main staple during the cold season!
today's was butternut squash with cabbage, potatoes, red onion & carrot juice. pretty yummy!
i like to experiment with jams this time of year... most recent was carrot & ginger!! which was a big hit! that batch was nice & spicy, next time i'll tone it down a bit.
during the colder months i love putting a pot of water on the stove to simmer... i often put different herbs in the water, & as the steam rises the smells spread throughout the house... good way to inhale the medicinal qualities... i currently am simmering bay leaves...the steam of the escential oils acts as a stimulant for respiratory passages, good thing for this time of year.
i am also currently studying for renewal of my Arborist Certification, which altho i enjoy refreshing my memory, it can get heavy after several hours a day.. so i am revisiting a few paintings i had never finished.... right now i am working on "the real boy" acrylic/mixed media on canvas... i am liking how it is coming along & the look & feel of it!
